Brian's story of moving to Penang
Many friends asked me why I moved to Penang. This story begins four years ago. At that time, a low-cost airline offered round-trip tickets to Penang at HK$168, so I arranged for my family to go to Penang for a week during the summer vacation. But when she arrived in Penang on the first day, her daughter had gastroenteritis, vomiting and diarrhea. We needed to go around to find someone to help, and the locals were very enthusiastic to help, and even took us to a hospital like the Hong Kong Sanatorium. The facilities and services of this hospital are very high, but the charges are only one third of those in Hong Kong.
Afterwards, I visited Penang for a few days, and experienced that Penang has the atmosphere of Hong Kong in the 1980s, but the pace of life is relaxed and there is a kind of human touch that Hong Kong has lost for a long time.

We then started looking for information about moving to Penang. Information such as application requirements, living environment, international schools and living expenses. After reading the information, I found that the requirements to immigrate to Malaysia are simpler than other countries, and the living expenses and international school tuition fees are cheap. Our family started a three-year immigration study trip. Every summer vacation, we will live in Penang for a month to experience the local life. Finally our family moved to Penang in August 2017. Now I live in a 1,300-square-foot sea-view unit with two parking spaces, but the rent is only HK$3,500.
